The
Generations Program understands the special needs of those with memory
impairment. The attentive staff at Maplewood offers a memory care program
that allows residents to live to their fullest potential in a protected
environment without concerns over wandering or other safety issues.
From the secured courtyard to the inviting kitchen area, our community
and grounds were specifically designed to attend to these special needs
in a warm and supportive atmosphere. Striving to encourage activity
and freedom, our program helps to minimize the confusion and stress
that often accompany memory impairment.

Our
staff is carefully selected for their care and compassion and each has
been specially trained and certified through the Alzheimer’s Association.
With compassion, finesse and often humor, we engage our residents in
activities that evoke familiarity and comfort to minimize adverse symptoms.
The Generations Program is adapted to each resident’s needs. For example,
we use methods such as art, cooking or music therapy to stimulate the
residents’ creativity and senses, or tasks such as setting the table,
to empower the individual. We also incorporate hobbies the residents
may have previously enjoyed. These methods have been found to greatly
aid in maintaining independence for those with Alzheimer’s. Our goal
is to help each resident live with the highest possible level of independence
and comfort.
